The Pennsylvania Football Writers released the All-State football teams Friday and Saturday, and four York-Adams players made the prestigious list.

New Oxford quarterback Brayden Long and York High center Trey Bernstein were among the 40 players selected in Class 5A. York Suburban running back Savion Harrison and York Suburban linemen Garth Barclay were among 39 players selected in Class 4A.

Northern York running back Kyle Swartz was also selected in Class 5A.

The Class 3A and Class 1A teams were also released Friday. The Class 6A, 4A and 2A teams will be released Saturday.

About 90 reporters from around the state nominated and voted on the all-state teams.

YAIAA Class 5A selections

Long was one of four quarterbacks selected after a record-breaking year in which he led New Oxford to its first District 3 playoff win in 13 years and first winning season in six. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound senior threw for 2,585 yards, 29 touchdowns and eight interceptions while completing 59% of his 287 pass attempts in 12 games. He was also the team’s leading rusher with 366 yards and four touchdowns.

He broke the Adams County record for career passing yards (6,871) previously held by Gettysburg grad Evan Lewis, and tied Lewis' career record for touchdown passes with 67.

Long opened the season by throwing for 326 yards and five scores in a win over Bermudian Springs. After the Colonials lost three straight games to put a promising season in jeopardy at 2-3, Long led them to four straight wins to clinch a playoff berth. New Oxford lost its regular-season finale to Northeastern, but in a playoff rematch with the Bobcats, Long threw for 277 yards, rushed for 51 and scored five combined touchdowns in a 41-14 win.

All this after the Colonials went 0-10 and 3-7 his first two seasons as a starter.

Long currently has Division I FCS offers from Central Connecticut State and Marist and a Division II offer from Slippery Rock.

Bernstein was the leader of an experienced offensive line that drew praise from rival coaches around the YAIAA and paved the way for the Bearcats to rush for more than 3,000 yards as a team. The 6-foot-2, 260-pound center was a three-year starter who opened holes for Khalid Dorsey and Dayjure Stewart his first two seasons as a starter before blocking for a multitude of backs this season.

Bernstein played noticeably well in the team's opening game against Pittsburgh Central Catholic, which featured four Division I recruits on its defensive line. He was one of five offensive linemen selected to the Class 5A team. He will have the opportunity to play college football.

YAIAA Class 4A selections

One of four running backs selected, Harrison was the catalyst behind the Trojans first undefeated regular season in 57 years.

Shifty with outstanding balance, Harrison rushed for 1,714 yards and 21 touchdowns on 196 carries, averaging 8.7 yards per carry. He often exited games early as Suburban beat teams by an average of 27 points per game in the regular season.

But he came up huge in the team's biggest win of the season, a 30-19 victory over defending YAIAA Division II champ Gettysburg in Week 8. The 5-foot-9, 170 pound Harrison had the game of his life, rushing for 324 yards and four touchdowns on 24 carries, setting the school's single-game record for rushing yards.

He topped 100 yards on eight occasions, and went for 215 on 30 carries in the final game of his career in a playoff loss to Lampeter-Strasburg. He set York Suburban's single-season and career (3,666) rushing records. Harrison was also arguably the best corner back in the YAIAA and could play defense in college.

Harrison has Division II offers from Seton Hill and Slippery Rock.

Barclay was one of the leaders of an offensive line that opened up holes for Harrison. The 6-foot-7, 255-pound tackle missed the first two games of the season with an illness but returned to start on both sides of the ball. He had five sacks and 26 tackles as a defensive end.

A three-year starter, Barclay has signed to play Division I football for Syracuse. He's ranked by 24/7 Sports composite as the 14th best recruit and third-best offensive linemen in the class of 2020 in Pennsylvania.
