YAIAA cross country coaches announce 2019 league all-stars

Coaches in the YAIAA have released the 2019 cross country all-stars. 

Here are the all-stars and selections for players and coaches of the year, by division. 

Boys' cross country 

Division I 

Coach of the Year: Bruce Lee, Southwestern

Runner of the Year: Cole Perry, Northeastern 

All-Stars:

James Herman, Northeastern

Brandon Baxter, Central York

Shernel Singh, Southwestern

Shernan Singh, Southwestern

Evan Freil, Southwestern

Lukas Raullerson, New Oxford

Just a sophomore, Perry finished fourth in the YAIAA meet with a time of 16:41, 13th in the District 3 Class 3A meet with a time of 16:21.1 and 61st at the state meet with a time of 16:54.7. 

Lee led South Western to the Division I title with a 4-0 league record and a 10-3 overall record. 

Division II 

Co-Coaches of the Year: Michael Twigg, Kennard-Dale; Ron Herman, York Suburban

Runner of the Year: Cole Adams, York Suburban

All-Stars:

Andrew Hirneisen, Gettysburg

Drew Cole, Gettysburg

Collin Wolf, Kennard-Dale

Dan Gibney, Kennard-Dale

Grant Kern, York Suburban

Shea Walsh, York Suburban

Also a sophomore, Adams was the league's top runner this season and led York Suburban to a second-place finish at the PIAA Class 2A tournament. He took first at the league tournament with a time of 16.27.60, third at the District 3 Class 2A tournament with a time of 15:54.3 and 14th at the PIAA tournament with a time of 16:42.1. 

Herman guided the Trojans to another outstanding season with 12-0 regular season mark and the second-place finish at states. The Trojans finished tied for first with Lewisburg with 82 points but took second due to a tiebreaker. Twigg guided Kennard-Dale to a 12-1 regular season record and a second-place finish at districts behind York Suburban.

Division III 

Coach of the Year: Marcia Roan, Fairfield

Runner of the Year: Sean Smith, York Tech

All-Stars:

John Whitcomb, Fairfield

Gabe Schubring, Fairfield

Levi Davis, Fairfield

Joe Rizzuto, York Catholic

Mosley Driscoll, York Catholic

Jack Stromberg, York Catholic

A junior, Smith took 21st at the league meet with a time of 17:27.70 and 38th at the District 3 Class 3A meet with a time of 16:49.8. Roan guided Fairfield to a second-place finish at the District 3 Class 1A tournament. 

Girls' cross country 

Division I 

Coach of the Year: Doug Moyer, Dallastown

Runner of the Year: Margaret Carroll, Northeastern

A junior, Carroll took first at the league meet with a time of 18:28.60, third at the District 3 Class 3A with a time of 18:27.3 and fifth at the state meet with a time of 18:29. Moyer guided the WIldcats to a team title at the league meet, a third place finish at districts and a 10th-place finish at states. 

Division II 

Coach of the Year: Michael Beegle, Gettysburg

Runner of the Year: Summer Hogan, Dover

All-Stars:

Emily Hogan, Dover

Delaney Barts, Kennard-Dale

Anne Bair, Gettysburg

Kelty Oaster, Gettysburg

Marrin Crist, Gettysburg

Courtney Ohl, York Suburban

A senior, Hogan finished seventh at the league meet with a time of 19:27.90, sixth at the District 3 Class 3A meet with a time of 18:46 and 33rd at states with a time of 19:33. Beegle led Gettysburg to a fourth-place finish at the league meet and a fifth-place finish at the District 3 Class 2A meet. 

Division III 

Coach of the Year: R.C. Zinn, Delone Catholic

Runner of the Year: Julia O'Brien, Delone Catholic

All-Stars:

Becky Hernandez- Delone Catholic

Gabbie Tully- York Catholic

Maggie Motter- York Catholic

Aleya Miller- York Catholic

Morgan Dennison- Fairfield

Abigail Riedel- Littlestown

A junior, O'Brien took 30th at the league meet with a time of 21:28.1, seventh at the District 3 Class 1A meet with a time of 21:07.9 and 69th at states with a time of 21:37.4. Zinn guided Delone to a fourth-place finish at the District 3 Class 1A meet.
